The 2008 BMW R 1200 GS Adventure is one of several recent models that BMW is recalling for brake line problems.

It is a tough week for BMW’s motorcycle division, with more than 15,000 bikes being recalled for three different problems, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The biggest involves about 15,500 motorcycles on which the front brake lines can be stressed, develop cracks and leak. The models covered are the 2007-8 K 1200GT; 2007 -9 R 1200 GS, R 1200 GS Adventure, R 1200 R, R 1200 RT and the 2007 R 1200 ST.

BMW is also recalling some of its dual-purpose motorcycles because the rear wheel could lock up. They are the 2007-8 G 650 X Country; the 2007 G 650 X Challenge and the 2007 G 650 X Motor.

The company says a mounting attachment for the roll-gear pin could break and fragments could be trapped between the drive chain and rear sprocket. The company has yet to tell the agency how many motorcycles are involved.

In addition, BMW said its 2008–9 F 650 GS and F 800 GS motorcycles were being recalled because the drive chain “was not manufactured to specification” and could break. The company has not told the agency how many motorcycles are involved.
